Maryjane Gardner

BIOGRAPHY

Ms. Gardner is in her fourth year as an English teacher at Pine Forest High school. She has proudly taught English 3 throughout her tenure. As an Eagle, she serves as English Department Instructional Chair , 11th Grade ELA PLC Facilitator, Yearbook Advisor, and Diamond Girl Sponsor. 

Ms. Gardner spent thirteen years in the sports industry before changing to the education field. She spent three seasons with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos as the Media and Public Relations Manager. She served as the liaison and provided support to media covering the Blue Wahoos which included writing press releases, recaps, media advisories, interview requests, and conducting press conferences. While also producing games programs and game notes, she maintained player relations and managed player transactions with the Southern League, Minor League Baseball, and the Cincinnati Reds. Gardner worked with the Cincinnati Reds Media Relation team during Spring Training in 2015 and attended multiple Baseball Winter Meetings. 

Ms. Gardner spent ten years as a member of the Florida State Sports Information staff. Gardner served as the Sports Information Director for the men’s tennis and men’s golf teams while managing football press box operations. She served as the media coordinator for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Golf Tallahassee Region. For the First and Second Round of the 2012 and 2010 Women’s Basketball NCAA Tournament hosted by Florida State University, Gardner served as the Assistant Media Coordinator and Media Workroom Coordinator. At the 2009-2013 Seminole Intercollegiate Golf Tournament she oversaw all media and statistical operations. As a graduate assistant in 2006-07, she was the primary contact for the women’s tennis team. Her women’s tennis media guide that season was awarded fifth best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Milton, Fla. native graduated from Florida State University with a degree in English-Literature in the summer of 2006 and a masters degree in Sport Management in the summer of 2012. Born in Lynn, Mass., Ms. Gardner cheers for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Bruins. On weekends, she serves as a barista/bookseller at the Bodacious Bookstore & Cafe downtown. In her downtime, she likes to spoil her nephews, nieces, and Bandit (her adorable dog).
